I'm confused[edit]

I have two questions:

  • Am allowed to submit a picture of myself working? I am an African, but my skin colour isn't as dark as the examples on this page, and my office is a lot more modern than the stereotype-perpetuating workplaces shown in the examples.
  • What does an "African-American" on the phone at her workplace in the United States of America have to do with Africa? Or wait, is this not about the continent of Africa, but about the African race? I'm so confused and not sure whether or not I should be offended by a possibly racist endeavour.

Améliorations possibles[edit]

Bonjour @Anthere: ou tout autre personne interessée, Je viens de lire les conditions pour le concours, est-ce que c'est possible pour les prochaines années de faire quelques améliorations :

  • Inviter les participants à téléverser sous une license plus libre que CC-BY-SA. Cette dernière n'est pas officiellement compatible avec Facebook. Pourquoi pas CC-O.. ou du moins CC-BY.
  • Plusieurs photos ne possèdent pas de tag géo (Camera location), peut-être former les participants à activer le GPS ou à rajouter manuellement le tag. Les groupes locaux devraient s'occuper de la formation.
  • Obliger les participants à mettre au moins un descriptif dans une langue donnée et les inviter à rajouter des liens interwikis (parc, ville, ..)
  • Rajouter au moins une catégorie en dehors de ceux du concours, ou demander aux chapters locaux de le faire.

Bonjour

  • pour étendre la licence proposée dans le cadre du concours... oui... on peut. Fondamentalement, toutes les licences acceptables sur Commons devraient être acceptables. C'est surtout dans un souci de simplification du message qu'il y a 4 ans, nous avons choisi une licence spécifique. Mais pas de souci sur le fond. On peut.
  • le tag géo... on peut évoquer le sujet aux groupes locaux de façon à ce qu'ils aient le sujet à l'esprit. Mais il vaut mieux avoir conscience qu'une grande partie des participants n'a aucun contact avec les groupes locaux.
  • Obliger les participants... alors ça... et comment donc ? Le champ de description est proposé au téléversement... à moins qu'il soit rendu obligatoire avec contrôle du nombre de caractères ajoutés... ça me semble difficile d'obliger à quoi que ce soit. En revanche, je peux faire un rappel aux groupes locaux de bien penser à mettre des descriptions lors des séances d'upload. J'ai bien souvenir de l'avoir déjà fait par le passé, mais sans guère d'impact :) Néanmoins, c'est faisable dès cette année. Par ailleurs, normalement, les uploaders devraient recevoir un mass message sur leur page de discussion, les remerciant et les invitant à contribuer d'autres manières mais j'attend que Mohammed me fasse une extraction de la liste des participants jusqu'à présent.
  • ajouter une catégorie... ma foi, on peut toujours demander. Pour autant... la grande majorité des participants sont totalement novices et ne comprennent pas vraiment Wikimedia commons. Donc on peut toujours l'évoquer... mais le rendre obligatoire... c'est peu évident.
  • demander aux chapters locaux de le faire : c'est une idée, mais elle se heurte à quelques imprévus. Ainsi, la majorité des pays participants n'a PAS de chapter local. En fait, dans la majorité des pays participants, nous ne sommes pas capables de citer le nom d'un seul participant local. En revanche, on peut toujours le rappeler aux chapters locaux, à mettre en oeuvre sur les images qu'ils téléversent eux-même. Certains le font. En revanche, le feront-ils sur les photos des autres contributeurs, sous le prétexte que c'est de leur pays... ma foi... j'ai peur que non. Mais je vais quand même le suggérer aux groupes.
  • les obligations ne pèsent pas lourd. Ainsi, il est obligatoire d'activer un email lors de la création de compte (afin que nous puissions contacter les gagnants). Dans les faits, d'expérience, pratiquement tous les gagnants des 4 dernières années étaient "sans email". Mais en recoupant les infos, nous avons toujours réussi à les retrouver (sur Facebook en général...).
